65 sqm apartment in Cervinia with a kitchen hidden behind a mirror

Galbiati Arreda is featured in AD Architectural Digest with a project created for a small 65 square meter apartment in Breuil Cervinia, transformed into an elegant mountain retreat.

As the article explains, the aim of the project was to combine contemporary design with typical alpine materials such as wood and stone, within a compact yet functional space.

Stepping through the front door, the dual soul of the home becomes immediately apparent: the raw wood enveloping the corridor “collides” with the mirrored wall on the left, which conceals the kitchen. Artificial lighting has been used as a clever device to emphasize the warmth of natural materials. At the end, the mountain comes into view and, just before it, the dining room. One of the apartment’s most surprising elements is the kitchen hidden behind a mirror. Integrated into the wooden boiserie, this solution allows the living area to remain clean and harmonious while making the most of every available centimeter. Reflective elements and mirrored surfaces amplify natural light and create a perception of greater space, perfect for a cozy yet modern mountain environment.

The entrance and lounge corner are warm yet sophisticated. They are colored by the tones of wood and wrapped in floor to ceiling boiserie. Whites and greens stand out, such as the forest hue of the Jacques armchair by Minotti and the wall artwork. Wood completes other furnishings as well, including the dining table, custom made based on the designers’ drawings. Photo Cristina Galliena Bohman. Styling Francesca Martinez.
Bottle green, reminiscent of pine needles, is the defining color of the lounge area. It appears in the ClassiCon coffee table, the velvet Jacques armchair by Minotti, and in the stylized painting that echoes the mountain profile beyond the architectural shell. The white sofa is also by Minotti. Photo Cristina Galliena Bohman. Styling Francesca Martinez.
Rustic wood and lacquered wood interact with one another, suggesting ever changing volumes. The built in TV is positioned directly above the fireplace. The set of furnishings throughout the home is contemporary, including the green glass side tables by ClassiCon and the green velvet armchair by Minotti. As you continue reading the article, you can admire every detail of this comfortable chalet, exploring furnishings and interior details, from the warm tones of wood to iconic pieces that blend seamlessly with the alpine setting.

The living room is dominated by a custom made wall in white tones that blends seamlessly with the rest of the architectural shell. Inside it are the TV and fireplace. Next to it, with mountain views, is the dining room where traditional elements such as the custom wood and iron table mix with modern pieces like the iconic single leg chairs with cowhide cushions. In short, this project demonstrates that by relying on Galbiati Arreda, it is possible to enjoy an elegant mountain apartment that, even within compact spaces, never renounces style and functionality.

Between the living room and kitchen stands a sliding glass wall. As the designers explain: “From the living area, a mirrored sliding wall conceals a small, fully equipped kitchen.” This partition expands perception and reveals a secret corner. The kitchen, set into a niche behind the movable glass wall, is entirely black. “The dark tone of the cabinetry, combined with the mirrored materials of the backsplash and ceiling, enhances spatial perception toward infinity,” creating a suggestive play of perspectives. The Pellini kitchen sits in a niche and is revealed by a sliding reflective glass wall. The same device is also used for the backdrop, walls, and ceiling of the recess, accentuating the sense of spaciousness. Barriers dissolve, and this extremely intriguing element appears like a pocket opening elsewhere. Photo Cristina Galliena Bohman. Styling Francesca Martinez.

The living room is bright and contemporary, as white as snow. The only contrast is the rustic parquet flooring and the custom designed table. The furnishings are contemporary, including the chairs and stool. Photo Cristina Galliena Bohman. Styling Francesca Martinez.
The master bedroom, complete with private bathroom, once again blends modern and traditional. The wooden headboard hosts a Flou sommier, while black tones and stone effects dominate the bathroom. Photo Cristina Galliena Bohman. Styling Francesca Martinez.
Entering on the left, behind the living room, the second bedroom is concealed and accommodates three beds, custom built by Meridiani. The wardrobes, with mirrored doors, reflect the gaze and expand spatial perception. Photo Cristina Galliena Bohman. Styling Francesca Martinez.

The guest bathroom, like the en suite ones, is defined by gres surfaces that recall typical stone. Black, as always, colors the accessories and furnishings. A noteworthy detail is the ceiling, clad in the same wood as the parquet flooring. Photo Cristina Galliena Bohman. Styling Francesca Martinez.
